About krafteqA software company from Leverkusen — and why it exists
krafteq is a German GmbH based in Leverkusen. We build two things: krafteq Handwerk, a standard system for trades businesses with 5 to 50 employees — bought instead of rented, with a dedicated installation per business. And fixed-price custom development for mid-market companies, where a standard product is not enough. We are not a corporation, there is no chain of departments between you and the people who write the code, and we tell you up front what our software cannot do.
German company from Leverkusen, development across Europe — responsibility and your contact person stay in Germany.
The storyFrom toolchain to standard product
krafteq started with one person: Ivan Bianko, founder and managing director. For more than fifteen years he built software for companies that move real things — systems for the automotive industry, for plant and machinery manufacturing, for banks, for a construction company with sites and machines. Not the software anyone talks about, but the kind without which no job gets finished at the end of the day.
Across those years a pattern kept repeating in every company: the single feature is rarely what makes the difference. The environment you build in does — the tooling, the process, the path software takes to reach the customer. At a small software company building for a large automotive client, that is exactly what he worked on: a toolchain that lets work through faster, and quality assurance that finds defects before the customer does. Both inside an environment paced by a large corporation — approvals, mandated procedures, long routes. The result was not prettier code. The result was that a handful of developers grew into a much larger team that could take on work which had been out of reach before — and that quality went up rather than suffering for it.
That is where the conviction behind krafteq comes from: a better-equipped company delivers faster and at lower cost — and that advantage should reach the businesses that could never afford it. Speed and care are not opposites. Whoever plays one against the other usually just has poor tooling.
After that period he worked independently for German industrial clients — the same kind of systems, the same attitude: better tooling, shorter routes, deliver rather than administrate. krafteq grew out of that, not out of an idea but out of ongoing work. And that is where the next decision came from: large industrial companies are demanding and dependable — but decisions there need many people and a lot of time. If speed is your strength, you can barely make it visible in that setting. So we turned to mid-market companies and trades businesses: one decision-maker, short routes, a result you can see.
The real turning point was AI. It is the biggest topic in our company today — not because everyone is saying so right now, but because it changed our own work. We rebuilt our toolchain around AI instead of bolting it on somewhere: in development, in review, in tests, in documentation. Parts of our process have run several times faster ever since. That made something possible which simply did not add up before: a seriously built standard system, developed by a small team, at a price a business with five people can carry.
With that speed we first offered the obvious thing: custom development, now affordable for a trades business too. The market answered clearly, and it had nothing to do with price. One owner told us, in essence, that he simply had no time for a project like that, and no way to judge it either: whatever was missing, he would only notice once everything was finished — and by then it would be expensive and painful. What he needed was something finished that holds up on site. He was right. Businesses do not want a construction site in their office; they want proven standard software — plus a few adjustments for how their own business runs, made by someone who understands it.
So we build our own system and adapt it, instead of starting from scratch for every business. Software here is bought the way a business buys a machine: paid for once, with clear limits, and fine-tuned until it fits. Nobody rents a machine by the employee. You buy it, you know in advance what it does and what it does not, and if it does not yet run smoothly in your workflow, it gets adjusted. That is how krafteq Handwerk is built — and that is why our pages state what the system cannot do, instead of us explaining it after the contract is signed.
Today we are an experienced senior engineering team based in Leverkusen with development across Europe. Everyone working on customer projects brings long practical experience — a minimum of ten years is a hiring criterion for us, not an average.
“A business should be able to buy software the way it buys a machine: once, with clear limits, and fine-tuned until it fits. Anything else is a rental you have to justify again every year.”
How we workFour decisions that shape our work
Not values on a poster, but decisions with consequences — for what you get, and for what you pay for it.
We work in our own house, with our own toolchain
Our advantage sits in the environment we build in: our own process, our own checks, our own delivery pipeline. Inside a customer environment that advantage stops at the door — and all that is left to sell is hours. So we build at our end and deliver a result, rather than placing people.
AI-supported development — one half of the price explanation
krafteq is an AI-Native software company: AI sits at the core of development — code, review, tests, documentation — not bolted on afterwards. That is not a culture claim, it is the reason a standard system of this size is affordable for a single business at all. People still check the work: every change goes through a review by a second person before it reaches your installation.
German company, development across Europe — the other half
Responsibility, management and your contact person sit in Germany; development capacity is a senior network distributed across the EU, in long-term cooperation rather than short-term placement. This is an efficiency decision at the same quality bar — and together with the toolchain it is the honest answer to the question of how this price is possible.
Your data stays where you want it
Operated on EU servers under the GDPR, with data processing under Art. 28 — or on your own server, or fully separated with no internet connection at all. Every business gets its own installation with its own database; no shared system in which your data sits next to another company's.
Honest limitsWhat we do not have — and what you get instead
Every vendor has a list of what it can do. This is the other list. It is here because you will find it out anyway — better now than after you sign.
| What we do not have | What you get instead | |
|---|---|---|
| User numbers | We cannot tell you that thousands of users work with our software. krafteq Handwerk is new, and we are not going to invent a number to paper over that. | Named contacts instead of an anonymous crowd — you know who looks after your installation. And a system that gets fine-tuned: whatever does not work for you, we change, and you see the change in your installation. Fine-tuning after go-live is included, with the scope written into your offer beforehand. That is the proof we can actually offer — not how many people use it, but how reliably it gets adjusted. |
| Availability | No around-the-clock hotline, no on-call duty at night. Call at three on a Sunday morning and nobody picks up. | Support Monday to Friday, 9 to 17, with a fixed German-speaking contact person who knows your installation. No call centre, no faceless ticket number, no email thread dragging on for weeks. |
| A wall of certificates | We do not hang up seals we do not hold, and we do not advertise marks that would say nothing about your installation anyway. | Concrete security practice you can ask about: a review by a second person on every code change, credentials in an encrypted vault (HashiCorp Vault), a software bill of materials (SBOM) for every release, every container scanned automatically for known vulnerabilities, infrastructure fully described as code and therefore reproducible. |
| A large organisation | No corporation, no three layers between you and the people who write the code, and no hand-off to another department the moment a question gets technical. Also no headcount figure we want to impress you with here. | You talk to the people who build and operate the software. Whoever promises you something is the same person who delivers it — and the same person you can hold to it if it does not arrive. |
| A product without limits | krafteq Handwerk does no bookkeeping, no stock management, no purchasing, no payroll, and no portal for your own customers. | Those limits are settled before the offer, not after it. And you do not have to take our word for it: you get a test instance of your own and see what the system does with your own data before you decide. |
Support hours and security practice refer to operation at krafteq. If you run the installation yourself on your own server, updates and backups are yours to handle — we say that up front too.
Track recordkrafteq Handwerk is new. The company behind it is not.
Before the product existed we worked for industrial and mid-market clients — mostly on systems nobody talks about, because they simply have to keep running in the background. We do not name those clients publicly; in a conversation we are happy to explain what the work involved.
Cloud costs cut substantially
At an industrial company, several internal services kept running unattended after a supplier's staff turnover — at disproportionate cost. We took over technical ownership, stabilised the services and reduced the cloud costs of the affected services by 70%.
A release made possible
An enterprise product was close to shipping, but without a quality assurance process the release could not be justified. We built a QA process and integrated it into the existing way of working: product quality rose markedly without slowing development down.
Delivery simplified
At the same client, shipping the product to their own end customers was laborious and error-prone. We designed and built an internal tool that automates that process. The company took it over and runs it to this day.
Business software off the office server
A wholesaler with six employees ran its entire business software on a server in the office. We analysed the software, optimised it and moved it to Azure — the office server became unnecessary, and the system got faster and more reliable.
Internal tooling and infrastructure put in order
At an industrial client, technical debt around internal tools kept growing because the developers were tied up on other projects. We described the infrastructure fully as code and built better delivery pipelines — traceable, verifiable, repeatable.

The well-known trades software vendors sit in Hamburg, Berlin and Hanover. We sit in Leverkusen, between Cologne and Düsseldorf. For businesses in the Rhineland that means an on-site meeting is a drive, not a project. For everyone else nothing changes about how we work together — the same contact person, reachable in German or English, by phone or email.
